Simulation of Dam Breaks on Dry Bed Using Finite Volume Roe-TVD Method

Dams are one of the most important hydraulic structures. In view unrecoverable damages occurring after a dam failure, analyzing dams’ break is necessary. this study, located in Iran considered. According to adjacent tourist and entertainment zones, breaking could lead severe problems for area bridges downstream river. To investigate issue, numerical FORTRAN code based on 2D finite volume Roe-TVD method fixed bed provided assess effects break. Turbulence terms dry conditions were considered code. A wave tank (NWT) with triangular barrier was numerically modeled compared analytical models verify capability Comparing numerical, experimental results showed that estimated water level mass conservation model good agreement data solutions. The approach used has reduced cost computing 3D while obtaining accurate results. finally applied full-scale dam-break flood.
